Build a Loft Bed

Author: A loft bed is simply a bunk bed with just a top bunk and an open space beneath. Loft beds create extra space by building the bed upward and allowing the space below it to be reused. Nothing makes a small bedroom more spacious than a loft bed. It supplies you with more usable floor space. Since you can put chests, drawers, desks, or anything else you want below. Some individuals even use the space beneath a loft bed as a closet.
There are many different kinds of loft bed designs from which to choose. Some are specifically for children while others were designed with teenagers in mind. You can also find designs for more sophisticated styles that are more suitable for adults.
It is always best to begin with a plan; draw up a sketch of what your loft bed will look like and take out your tape measure to determine the measurements your bed will be. To measure the size of your bed decide whether you want a twin, double or queen sized bed and use the size of the mattress to settle the size the bed frame will have to be.
The average loft plan is for a twin-size mattress with a floor space requirement of 4' x 6.5'. You'll want to measure your room and sketch the dimensions onto a sheet of paper. The typical formula is one inch equals one foot. Cut this out and place onto the other drawing of your room dimensions. Experiment with various placements to find the best one for your room.
Drill holes through the ends of the boards and use a screwdriver to screw the box together. Screw angle brackets onto the inside of each corner to support them. Then place the sheet of plywood over the box to create the bottom of the box. Attach the plywood to the frame with screws spaced 2-feet from each other.
Take a look at your current bed and imagine what you would do with that space if your bed was floating in the air. This is the potential of the corner loft bed. You can put anything you want in that space. Most people move desks, shelves and dresser drawers under the bed.
Finish the bed with a wood stain or paint to pretty up the room. Then make the bed. Now you are ready to crawl onto the loft bed and take a nap.

Loft beds are great space savers
Lofts typically used by college students in cramped dorms and apartments have recently become very popular with kids, youth, tweens and teens at home. Why? Because they are great space savers, and best of all, kids love them. A loft bed denotes a bunk bed that has only the top bunk, creating an open space underneath that can be occupied by a chest, drawers, or even a work area.
This makes loft beds an efficient use of small spaces by utilizing the entire vertical area that would otherwise be left unused. Some loft beds even have stowable/trundle beds while retaining the capability to contain workstations and drawers. Some loft beds are more expensive than bunk beds due to built-in storage capacity and other features.
A triple lindy loft bed is an arrangement involving a total of three beds. These beds are a combination of bed types, where a loft bed is perpendicularly attached to a bunk bed to form an L-shape.
Its very useful for students who stay in hostels because, they are the utility units in the given small area.
