Contrary to another review, this item comes out of the package looking identical in color and texture to the picture. The design on it is exactly as shown in the picture. I almost did not order it due to the color being off comment, but i find it's a perfect match. As for it not having a sheen, the description says it's 100% cotton, not cotton sateen. Cotton will not have a sheen, and usually is not sheer either.

I recommend this product to be 100% accurate by the picture and description listed.

FURminator Large Yellow deShedding Tool with 4-Inch Edge Reviews

In our 10-animal household (dogs and cats), fur is everywhere. I thought I had found the holy grail of grooming tools in the Zoom Groom (they make different models for dogs and for cats), which removes a lot of fur without giving the animal an unpleasant experience. Now I think the Zoom Groom is a great little brush, but when it comes to amount of fur removed, it's got nothin' on the Furminator. Even my long-hair cat who dislikes being groomed will let me use the Furminator on her for a good long stretch.

How does it work? Excellent question; I still can't figure it out exactly after extensive use, but I can tell you what it does NOT do. It doesn't pull or cut the hair; the comb-style "blade" does not have a sharp edge. Also, it doesn't cause discomfort for the animal; mine all seem to enjoy it very much, like it gives a pleasant scratching sensation. (I ran it along my own arm as a test, and experienced the same.)

If you go to the Furminator website and watch the grooming videos there, you will see tremendous amounts of fur being removed from dogs and cats after they have been groomed using a few different styles of grooming tools. These videos are not faked; I could not believe the piles and piles of fur I removed from my critters with the Furminator, even after using a fine-toothed flea comb on them. Their coats are so soft after I groom them, and the amount of hair shed on my furniture and floors actually seems to have decreased! Plus the critters -- especially those with heavy undercoats for winter warmth -- are way more comfy in the summer heat.

A downside -- the manufacturer does suggest you will need to buy replacement blades to maintain the performance of this tool; I am not sure how one can tell if the blade is "dull" but perhaps it will become clear after more use. All in all, however, the price is well worth the performance of this high-quality tool.

UPDATE: I wanted to add that this tool is designed to be used on clean(ish), dry, tangle-free fur. If the coat has more than a couple of burrs or tangles, use a different kind of tool (scissors or a comb) to remove these first before grooming, as the Furminator will just skim right over these areas. Also, it will not work very effectively on wet or really grubby fur; this is not the tool to reach for right after your dog's been swimming!

And I say it as an expert on just about any product that promises to reduce pet hair shedding, or make the clean up of it easier.

I have a Norwegian Elkhound, one very compact, highly intelligent, gorgeous and HAIRY dog. She has both a long coat and a very prolific downy white undercoat that seemingly sheds 24/7. It's got a cotton ball texture; tufts of it stick out, and if you pull it, you get a pouf of very soft white down that is guaranteed to stick to you and everything in its path.

My former regimen was to use a rubber curry brush for the long outer coat, and (the part I hate), an undercoat rake. No matter how much I brush her, I'm covered with hair, and there's a grocery bag FULL of hair. It's an hour to two hour task, and as much as I love my dog, a huge, hairy nuisance!

When I got the Furminator, I was impressed with the heft of it. I bought the large size with the idea that it'd be that much less effort (generally speaking, the small size is the cheapest, but it's so small, it would take forever on anything but the smallest or unhairiest dog. And the difference in price between the medium and large is, at most places, only a few bucks. If you're going to invest in the furminator, go for the size that makes the most out of every pass over the dog's coat.)

So I tried a few swoops on the dog. And yeah, it resulted in a ton of hair, but if I just run my fingers through her coat, I get pretty much the same result.

I got a grocery bag (to store the hair pulled off the comb) and set to work. On the initial combing, it took a little less than the usual hour it does. What was interesting, though, is that I used only the Furminator, not the undercoat rake and curry comb combo I usually use. In that sense, it was less time and effort.

The bag, as usual, was full. But the thing that really sold me on the Furminator is how good her coat looked. Very professional looking, like she had just gotten back from the groomer's.

Now it's a few days later, and lo and behold, one of the promises the maker of the Furminator made seems to actually be true: there is less loose hair on her. Usually I see long hairs and some of those fluffy white tufts peeking up, but that's not the case after her de-Furmination. NO loose hair, no undercoat tufts!

I can say that, based on me trying just about every comb, method, and grooming device, this is the first time my dog's been this relatively hairless since I got her.

The Furminator promises that there will be less of a hair problem with its use. All I can say is that based on one thorough use of it, that claim seems to be true. I'd recommend it (and it does have a 30 day money-back guarantee from the manufacturer.)

The only reason why I'm not five-starring this is because of the price. I still don't see why it's so expensive, and I got a good price on it w/shipping (I paid and that's still too much!) I'm also worried about the cost of replacement blades for this. There's simply no reason it should cost so much!

I'd also recommend you shop around for price. I got the best deal on this (including shipping) from an ebay store (not a regular auction.) Just beware the shipping prices on places that seem to be cheap.

This is a great heater! We use it to heat the living area of our RV. The living area is approximately 26' x 10' with normal height ceilings. We've tried a few different compact room heaters, but they were too small to heat the area and also way too noisy. We've had the heater about 4 months now. Since we are staying in cooler climates, we've used it almost every night (overnight).

The best features about this heater are:

- It's QUIET!!!

Really!! We have tried many heaters in our RV and house over the years and they tend to be so noisy. The model we tried before purchasing the Lasko was so noisy we had to crank the tv volume up to hear over it. This Lasko seems to be about as quiet as a fan could be.

- It has an automatic thermostat you can set.

This model has a high/low and auto setting. The high/low settings are not thermostat controlled. You simply choose hotter or less hot air. The auto setting allows you to set the thermostat to the temperature you desire. It seems reasonably "accurate". That is, the temperature it displays is within 3-4 degrees of the other thermometers I have around the room. Once you set the thermostat, the heater cycles on/off, just like you would expect. This is a great way to keep the room at your target temperature. We use this mode every night.

- It oscillates.

This sounds like a silly feature to list, but it makes a big difference in heating up a room. The previous heaters we've had did not oscillate. Therefore, the area directly in front of the heater was warmed, but the rest of the room was not. The oscillation really helps get the heat moved around the room so that you are not creating hot and cold spots. We always turn on the oscillation to heat the room. I am sold on that feature and would not buy another heater in the future unless it oscillated.

- It has a remote control.

The only thing that would make it better is if you could see the settings on the remote instead of having to look at the top of the heater. But, if they did that, the cost would go up. So, I'm happy with this remote given the price of the unit.

There are a couple of negatives about this heater:

- To me, it is annoying that it beeps for every setting you change. This may be a problem if you plan to use it in your bedroom and change settings while someone is asleep. The beeping is really apparent when you want to change the thermostat. When you unplug the heater, it resets itself to 75 degrees. So, if you then want to set it to 60 degrees, you are going to hear 15 LOUD beeps. Turn it on - beep. Choose oscillate - beep. Change to auto setting - beep. Decide to up the temperature by 3 degrees during the night - beep, beep, beep... and your partner is now awake! You get the idea. I assume Lasko designed the beep so that you would know you changed something while clicking the remote control. But, it's so loud they should either make it softer or give you an option to turn it off.

- There is no "fan only" setting.

It seems like most heaters I've purchased in the past have a fan only setting. I'm not sure why this one does not. Since you have the big unit sitting there in your room, it would be nice if it could be used to circulate air during the day when it's warmer, and then heat at night once the temps have dropped. Since we are using this heater in our RV, it's more noticeable to me since we need to have space for the both the heater and a fan. Oh well.

Overall, we love this heater and would buy it again.

I rate it at 4.5 stars.

(PS - we bought it at a local store, not via Amazon, so I can't comment on shipping).

UPDATE 1/18/2010: We've had this heater about 1 year now and it's still going strong. One thing I've noticed is that it will build up lint (Ummm... ok, cat & dog fur...). I wish there was a filter we could access and clean more directly. Oh well, other than that this heater is still doing great.

this heater is a life saver! my room mate and i are too cheap to have the heater on all the time. when we are home we have it on at a tolerable 65 degrees and turn it off when we leave the apartment. the heater is a great way to save on the bills and is eco-friendly. it heats up my room very well and pretty fast.

i decided to get lasko just because my boss has one in his office and i do like it. i also saw it at wal-mart and for only 45 dollars (w00t) and it's up for 75 bucks on the lasko website (double w00t) so it was a good deal!

the bad:

-the digital display is on top of the heater. it's inconvenient when i want to see the digital display screen from my bed

-no fan only option

the good!:

-quiet enough for me to fall asleep to (and i'm a light sleeper!)

-comes with a cute little remote controller with the same buttons as the heater and is very convenient if you don't want to get out of bed

-the heater beeps when you use the remote on it to show that it gets the command

-very cool feature: the auto option is great! let's say i have it set to 75 degrees. the heater will heat up to 77 degrees and temporarily shut off till the room cools down to 74 degrees. then the heater starts up again and the cycle keeps continuing till you or the timer shuts it off. i usually have this on when i'm sleeping and have no worries about being too hot.

-a timer that goes up to 8 hours

-high, low, or automatic setting

-can turn from side to side only on the high and auto setting

-compact

-has a handle in the back for easy carrying

i've had this heater only for a month, but i can tell it's going to last for a long while! because of it, i'm going to trust lasko!! i highly recommend this heater. as you can see, the good outweighs the bad!

I changed my review from a 1 to a 5...here's why I am impressed. First, I had a Tanita scale; it told me my weight, body fat, water weight, bone weight, if my toe nails needed to be cut, etc. However, I could not read the display and as executive/non-athlete I did not need all this information. When that scale died, I went looking for a good solid simple scale. I liked the way this scale looked and the reviews on Amazon were good. Plus, the price was great. I got it right away, and it was great. Looked good, easy to read, and I liked the 0.2 denominations. However, unfortunately it stopped working after two weeks. I went to return it on Amazon and posted a disappointing review. Then the most amazing thing happened...this really happened...about an hour after I posted my review, I was contacted by the company. They read my review and apologized that my unit was not operating the way that it was supposed, discussed their high quality control and that this should not have happened, and then they sent me a replacement right away. THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! They are family run operation that prides themselves on customer service and providing people with a quality product. THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS! Ill hopefully be updating my video shortly, but long story short there is no more tapping to activate and calibrate the scale. You just step on and get your readings. Otherwise its basically the same accurate, consistent scale it has been for the last year and a half.

Original Review - I think my title says it all. I own other EatSmart products so I bought this scale with confidence. Its a no-frills bathroom scale with one user that is accurate and easy to use.

Operating is easy. You tap the glass to wake the scale up and step on....no wasted time setting up users (which my last scale had) or programming weight loss goals. The scale reads out to the nearest .2 pounds, which is a nice feature when you are trying to gain confidence and hit short term weight loss goals (every little bit counts to me). More importantly its CONSISTANT, which means I get the same reading every time I step on and off the scale. Nothing was more infuriating than weighing myself, stepping off, re-weighing myself and seeing a completely different number (by as much as 5 lbs!). EatSmart seems to have solved this problem quite nicely.

Style-wise I have no complaints....the glass top is much better looking than the stainless steel I have previously and it doesn't make nearly as much noise when stepped on. The thinner profile also keeps me low to the ground so I worry less about slippage after a shower (plus with the larger LCD I'm not hunched over to read it).

A must have investment for anyone looking to lose weight.

I live in Seoul, South Korea, where it is inadvisable to drink water directly from the tap. Unless, that is, your idea of a good time is to let a little amoebic dysentery cozy up and get friendly with your colon.

Okay, so, the water isn't ALWAYS that scary to drink. Just, uh, just most of the time.

Even when the water doesn't make you sick, it usually tastes like it's been funneled through an old radiator. Coffeemakers, generally speaking, don't include water filters because the brewing process ostensibly kills all of the harmful bacteria. But you can still taste the heavy-metal-goodness in every last drop of leaden java. Lip smacking!

Anyhoo, I purchased a Cuisinart Coffeemaker recently (oh, how I love that machine), and it came with a package of these little filter fellows, and let me tell you, they do the trick. Gone are the filamental-flavors, the taste of scalded electrical wire! All that's left is pure watery goodness, the clean, crisp clarity of two spic-n-span H's and one well-scrubbed O. Now, if this little wunder-filter can do THAT for the brackish dreck that passes for water in Seoul, imagine how much more effective it would be on YOUR water!

Uh. Assuming you also do not live in Seoul. Or, er, Mexico. And parts of Bangladesh. And most of Haiti. And also, maybe, Djibouti. (Although I think Djibouti's been getting its act together with the public water works system these days, thanks to macro-economic reform programs. See the comments section below.)

I got one of these last year because i wanted a strong heater in a small package, small footprint, to use in my bathroom, because the built in heater stopped working. It's perfect for heating a small room like that. Then i got another one for my bedroom, it's quiet, strong, and small, it fit into a small space near the bed. Then, i got a third one for the living room. The living room is a large room, and i use the heater like a small fire place, it really pumps out the heat. It's not going to heat the whole living room, but sitting next to it feels like sitting next to a small fire for warmth, very pleasant, not too hot when close to it, just a nice strong warmth. In the living room, the central heating doesn't do that well heating the lower part of the room on a cold night, the heat rises and it can be set on a high temperature and still be cold where we sit, so we use these heaters to warm up our space, nice source of heat, very portable, lightweight, sturdy. No complaints, it's perfect for what i use it for.

Update: 26 Feb 2009. I am keeping this Lasko heater in the living room. I have bought another heater for my 8' x 10' guest bedroom, the Optimus H-5210 Infrared Quartz Radiant Heater available here on Amazon. The Optimus is virtually silent, and takes a bit longer to heat a room that has a ceiling fan (from 60 degrees, it takes a couple hours to truly heat the room up to 70 degrees), and that's fine with me.

Update: 08 March 2009. I am very happy with my Optimus in the guest bedroom!

I bought this for my elderly diabetic father who needed to track his weight for health reasons. What originally sold me on this scale was the supposedly extra large LCD display however once I saw the scale, I was utterly disappointed. The screen is nowhere near the claimed extra large, and even I had a hard time seeing my weight, let alone my elderly father who has a hard time seeing already. On top of that, I can't really vouch for the sturdiness of this scale. the weighing platform does not feel as stable as i'd have hoped. Plain and simple, they shouldn't even be advertising "Extra Large LCD" on this scale because its exactly what it lacks!

We looked at a number of ovens and wanted something that did the basic things and didn't take up too much space. No convection (we have a convection oven) and no digital - its just a basic appliance. We looked at the B&D 240 but this just seemed too basic and too flimsy. Then we saw this one. It has all the basics, it's a good, small size and its silver / black which matches our kitchen. It has 3 controls (as compared to the basic model w/ 2) making it easy to select temp, function and time. The handle is securely attached to the glass door -the metal ends wrap around the glass so it won't fall off (a complaint about other ovens). It has a nice slide out crumb tray that has access from the front with the oven door close - this makes it very easy to empty. Nicely toasted our first bagel in just a few minutes and it was very evenly browned, something our regular toaster did not do well at all.

I rate this toaster oven 5 stars, not because it is the biggest, best toaster oven out there, but because for the PRICE, it's a great mid-size countertop oven, it's very attractive, it has good basic features with easy dials, and toasts evenly and has a good size interior. Amazon ought to carry this themselves and offer free shipping. I actually got mine from a department store this week for a cheaper price (loss leader probably).

That other post with 1 star was kind of bizarre, getting the wrong rack?? Maybe he got a return or something but these come very well packed. A few features I like about this one is the wire shelf is reversible, no surprise there, but turned one way, it has a wire lip that the enclosed tray can slide under attached, which helps during the baking process to catch any overflow drips. Then your baking pan can sit right on top of the rail. I also like the pull out crumb tray from the front, easy to clean and put al. foil. The sides have little hooks that the wire rack can slide into and it pulls out the rack a slight bit when you open the oven, makes it easy to grab your toast. The front handle is screwed in, all very secure. The cord is shorter than most, but I consider this a plus. Most people place the oven right by a plug anyway and too long of a cord gets in the way. It's long enough to pull the oven out to the front of the counter tho if you are cleaning behind, etc.

Black & Decker made a good one with this model.

This filter is rated at 750 gallons capacity. If the consumer uses one gallon of water per day in the form of water from the refrigerator dispenser and ice from the ice dispenser, the filter will last 750 days; i.e., just over TWO years. In general, there is no reason to replace the filter yearly, unless you have a really yuccky water source.

In a small household of two adults, the filter should last considerably longer than two years. Furthermore, with the addition of a filtered water dispenser at the sink (such as a GE undercounter unit), the refrigerator filter would be functional for a few years. The undercounter units have a quite large capacity and some use two filter cartridges.

I received this humidifier 2 weeks ago after searching for a decent humidifier to replace the one i owned that was famous for robbing me in replacements filter, etc. fees. This thing fits the bill. The design is great, it's super quiet, and gets the job done. In choosing this product i read all the reviews. The reviews that made me hesitant to purchase this were the complaints that said: a)that the furniture on and around the humidifier got wet all the time, b)that the machine did not cut off if empty, as advertised, c)that the machine is hard to clean, and d) that it makes a lot of noise.

With hesitation, I purchased the product in good faith.

I was immediately pleased by the design. I read the owner's manual even though i thought it all was a "no brainer". The manual actually explained a)how to adjust the mist as to not wet the furniture around it, and b)that the machine will turn off when empty, but the light on the device will remain lite...obviously the part those that said the machine did not turn off failed to read, and c)how the machine is easy to clean with a vinegar or chlorine solution.

Cleaning is easy. I recommend using the bleach solution as bleach will kill anything..not to mention it also gets rid of the discoloration.

Lastly, the sound the comes from the machine is very subtle, but when u hear it, it is exactly like the soothing sounds of a filter running on a fish tank. It actually helped me sleep... having this white, very subtle noise.

I like this thing. My skin and nose are happy.

I hope this clarifies some of the ambiguity i found in the other reviews....

This humidifier is the perfect size for a bedroom. The tank empties in about a day, so the water doesn't sit around too long to get mildew or mold. There's certainly nothing glamourous about a plastic curtain, but with a 55 year old house with a wood window in the shower, it is an unfortunate necessity! My pair of "clear frosted" panels came with only one usable panel, which, as I will explain, ended up working out fine. One panel was not completely sewed/sealed together at the rod pocket. I would have sent it back, but I actually hated the way using the two plastic panels to try and give a scrunched "curtain" look ended up looking, and I ended up just using one panel (which fortunatley was just the right size to fully cover the width of the window and stretched perfectly across the length of the curtain rod). The plastic is a good weight for this purpose....not too stiff, but substantial enough to hang well. Don't think I would ever have any use for that extra panel except as a drop cloth, so I could find no value in taking the time to exchange it. So all is well and the tacky plastic curtain is doing it's job!

I bought two of these to offer a bit of privacy between rooms. They work great in that respect. However, if you're using these in the same manner as my purpose, keep in mind that shells are a big edgy. They're small and round but they have sharper edges than, say, a bamboo curtain. Walking through without opening a space for yourself will certainly get your hair pulled, jackets tugged, and bags caught. It's worth it for my home since the room they block off isn't used enough for it to become bothersome. These would make fun window treatments or shades, for certain.

The colors in the picture are NOT what I received. The shells were entirely gray. Also, there is a bit of plastic string here and there that I had to trim off, but for the price who can complain? They do not come with any sort of hanging hardware so you'll have to provide that for yourself.

Although the sheers state they are 116" W x 84" L, I noticed they are approximately an inch longer than stated. Other than that they are very nice sheers. I wish they came in other colors, but for the price they are nice. I needed something very full, and this does seem to do the trick. Purchased 3 sets to cover 3 windows, used all on one rod. I got the sheer curtains in white. They're just as pictured - nothing amazing or anything, but come on its a set of curtains. Maybe its me being too picky but I don't LOVE the top of the curtains. I'd rather a smooth top, but it tends to ruffle at the top when you push them together. It kindof makes an uneven look because you can see this above the curtains I have in front.

I ordered these curtains for my daughter's nursery. I ordered the pink rose and thought it would be a soft pink like the picture. When I opened the packaging which was in a cheap plactic bag the curtains were much darker and they were very cheaply made. The side of the curtains were just cut along with a pair of scissors. It wasn't even nicly cut or straight. I thought .99 for two panels was a great deals, but you do get what you pay for. When I called about either exchanging them for a differnt color or getting my money back I was told that I needed to pay a 10% restocking fee for .99 curtains, I had to pay to have them shipped back, and would not get a refund on my shipping which cost more than the curtains. I was also told that if i wanted to exchange for a different color i need to pay to have it shipped to them and then pay again to have it shippped back to me. The curtains came in a meduim flat rate box from the United States Postal Service which costs .70, but yet I was charged %14.98 for shipping. Nice to know they are charging more for shipping then what it actually costs.

Please, Please, Please listen to all the reviews and do not waste your money. It may sound like a great deat, but in the long run you buy these ugly things and then spend more money buying a different set of curtains that you actually like.

I paid 17.98 for 2 of these shower curtain plus 6.99 shipping. The plastic is thin there are no grommets and there are only 3 magnetic weights in the bottom of each curtain. I bought these in a pinch and wasn't expecting much and was still disappointed. I decided to rate this item with 2 stars because the liner is the length and width the company claims it to be. Personnaly I beleive a heavy grade plastic dropcloth and a few grommets bought locally would have done as good a job at 1/4 the price.

I initially wanted to get some nice chrome decorative hooks for our shower curtains, but read a lot of negative reviews about the curtains falling off the hooks on a regular basis, which is why I opted for a shower hook that would lock close. These hooks were a lot more malleable than I was expecting, but look fine, are able to support the weight of both my shower curtain and liner at the same time, and haven't had any issues with breakages or getting bent out of shape yet.

This is the thickest liner I have found to date. This curtain does not have that intense vinyl smell that lasts for days, it actually has very little odor. The only minor negative feature would be the plastic cutain hooks. I had one that wouldn't snap closed so I simply used the original ones I had. The curtain quality is excellent and the anti mildew feature is certainly a plus.

This shower curtain is just as described......it has a nice weight to it and so far - no mildew and it's been about 2.5 months. I always make sure to keep the shower curtain and liner open ( you know all the way spread out ) after the bathroom has cooled down a bit and the mirrors have de-fogged etc....and so far no mold or mildew or funky smells! Just as the other reviewers sate, these blackout/thermal curtains work exceptionally well (and thank you very much for taking the time to write the reviews, they really helped me make up my mind). But truthfully, I wasn't expecting much of a change.

I got them yesterday, put them up and then went to work. When I got home last night my bedroom was at least 10 degrees cooler than normal; and with the lights out, much darker as well. I recently moved from a house where my lady worked nights and had the bedroom basically blacked out so she could sleep during the day. My problem is where I live now the morning sun comes streaming in my window very early and very bright, thus waking me up earlier than I like (I work second shift and usually sleep until 10 AM, so being awakened at 8-9 AM was killing me). That is no longer a problem, thank God. I even overslept 1.5 hours this morning!!

And right now we are in the middle of a heat wave with triple digit temperatures, so I can vouch for the validity of the thermal properties of these excellent curtains. My room is usually at least 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house even with my ceiling fan on, but now that is no longer a problem. The same is true in winter, my room stays at least 10 degrees colder (I've lived here before...thank God for understanding, loving parents!). I'm sure I'll see the same results this winter, with my room being much warmer.

Also, these are very soft, satiny feeling curtains, not rough feeling at all. If you didn't know better you'd think they were much higher priced regular fine draperies with no thermal/blackout properties whatsoever. But touch can be very deceiving in this case. This company deserves an award for the design of these curtains.

Thank you very much for a product that actually lives up to what you say they will do; and again, thank you to the other reviewers. If you were in my situation, and want to save money as well, you really need to try these out. Leonard B.

I had initially placed an order for these curtains on July 7th. A month and a half later, I still do not have them. The initial shipment brought a set of 2 curtains, where one was about 10 inches longer than the other one. There were no return labels included, so upon contacting the company's customer service, I was e-mailed return labels. I sent the product back and waited patiently for a whole month. I called the company again today, where the phone was answered in an unprofessional manner (making me think I had reached a residence and not a company) and I was told that my replacement order would ship out tomorrow. I'm probably not incorrect in my asumption that the return order had been completely forgotten. I was not given any explanations or justification for the wait time.

The product in itself was certainly satisfactory, but having to wait almost two months for it due to lack of quality customer service and service overall leaves me with the inability of recomending this seller.
